My name is Daniel Jones, and I am running for re-election to continue serving as your County Judge.
I ask you for your vote and support in the upcoming March 3 Republican Primary Election for Gillespie County Judge.
It has been an honor and privilege to serve as your County Judge. My commitment to Gillespie County is stronger than ever, and I am eager to continue our work together to ensure our County remains the best place to live, work, and raise a family.
As your County Judge, I have implemented common-sense policies and decision-making that meets the needs of our local citizens, preserves our unique community character, and supports the small businesses and industries that drive our local economy.
I am running for re-election because I remain dedicated to building more opportunities for our community—opportunities to start a business, raise a family, enjoy the outdoors, or retire with peace of mind.
The County Judge serves a dual role as both the presiding officer of the Commissioners Court and the Presiding Judge of the County Court. With over 19 years of practicing law and a proven track record in this office, I offer experienced leadership for Gillespie County.

Administrative Leadership & Fiscal Oversight
As the chief administrator for Gillespie County, Judge Jones oversees the county budget and ensures the efficient operation of local government. Since 2023, his leadership has achieved several key milestones:
Budgetary Focus: Proposing and managing a budget that prioritizes essential services, including supporting vital pay increases for the Sheriff’s Office, improving 911 Dispatch services, and boosting funding for our Volunteer Fire Departments.
Emergency Management: Leading the County through crises, such as the Crabapple Fire near Willow City, where he quickly issued an emergency disaster declaration and coordinated long-term recovery efforts through the Crabapple Fire Relief Fund.
Government Efficiency: Proactively resolving long-standing administrative challenges, including modernizing the county website and staff resources, and migrating all courts in the County to paperless filing systems.
Community Preservation: Protecting the unique character of our county by making tough decisions on a mass gathering permit in Albert and championing local institutions like the Pioneer Memorial Library.
Judicial Duties
Beyond his administrative role, Judge Jones serves as the presiding judge for the Gillespie County Court. Drawing on his extensive legal background, he handles a diverse docket that includes:
Probate and Guardianship: Ensuring the fair and timely administration of estates and the protection of our most vulnerable citizens.
Criminal and Juvenile Matters: Presiding over misdemeanor cases and juvenile proceedings with a firm commitment to justice and community safety.
24/7 Justice: Serves on a 24/7 rotation alongside three other local judges to provide law enforcement with continuous judicial support by reviewing and signing warrants at any hour of the day or night.
Regional Leadership & Advocacy
Judge Jones represents Gillespie County on several regional and specialized boards, ensuring our community has a strong voice in Central Texas:
Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG): Serving on the Board of Directors, where he collaborates with regional leaders to address transportation, aging services, and economic development.
Alamo Area Housing Finance Corporation: The Alamo Area Housing Finance Corporation (AAHFC) is organized per Chapter 394, Texas Local Government Code. The AAHFC seeks to provide financing for housing for the residents of Kerr, Gillespie, Kendall, Comal, Guadalupe, Frio, Bandera, Medina, Atascosa, Wilson, and Karnes Counties. Judge Jones currently serves as President of the AAHFC Board.
Gillespie County Juvenile Board: Serving as a Board Member along with the District Judge to provide oversight and policy direction for the County’s juvenile justice system.
Hill Country Regional Public Defender’s Office Oversight Board: This board is created pursuant to the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure and is comprised of all County Judges of the participating counties (Kerr, Kendall, Gillespie, Bandera, and Medina). Judge Jones is currently serving as a Vice President to ensure the regional justice system operates fairly and efficiently for all residents while reducing the Gillespie County’s taxpayer burden in proving public defense.
